Is my train on time?
In the live timetable, you can always find the latest updates and check whether your RE 5 is on time or if there are any changes. Are there any delays, train cancellations or platform changes?
Tickets & Fares
To travel on our trains, you will, of course, need a valid ticket.
You can either select it on our website using our journey planner and purchase it at bahn.de or visit one of our Points of Sale.

Our Customer Service will be happy to assist you.
Group travels
Whether it’s a school trip, a tour with your bowling club or a weekend getaway with your loved ones – we’re happy to help you plan your journey.
A trip is even more enjoyable when shared with a group. However, if your group consists of more than 21 people, please let us know in advance so we can ensure you stay together.
Here’s how it works:
Please book your journey at least 10 days before the day of validity. Our Group Service Centre will check whether there are enough seats available for your desired train connection. If this is not the case and the train is already fully booked, you will be informed of an alternative connection. Please be considerate and remember to cancel your booking if you change your plans.
We are happy to accept your booking via the following channels:
- By telephone at 030 2970
- At a DB Travel Centre or one of our Points of Sale
- Via our Contact Form
Your booking helps us better manage the capacity of our trains, ensuring that you and your group can travel comfortably and stress-free.
We will also be happy to advise you on choosing the right ticket and help you find the best-value option.
Bicycle transport
The Unterelbe (Lower Elbe) is renowned for its beautiful cycling routes. The Elberadweg is a popular leisure destination in Lower Saxony.
Commuters are increasingly using bicycles, so we make it easy for you to take your bike or e-bike on board our trains.
Please ensure you only board the carriages marked with the bicycle symbol.
Bicycles for children under 6 years old travel free of charge and folded bicycles can be carried as luggage. Do you have a BahnCard 100? Then your bike can also travel free of charge.
Otherwise, the following types of bicycles are subject to a fee:
- bicycles
- folded bicycle trailers
- e-bikes (exempt from insurance)
- tandem
- recumbent bikes and tricycles
- pedal scooters such as the Nordic Scooter
The cost of transport depends on the applicable fares. For more information on bicycle transport, please visit the Niedersachsentarif website, the HVV website or refer to the conditions of carriage.
Please ensure that wheelchair users, other passengers with mobility constraints and those with prams are given priority when boarding and can be accommodated in our multi-purpose areas.
Reach your destination safely and stress-free.
For a quiet and relaxing journey we recommend using the quiet carriage marked with the symbol shown opposite.
Smoking and alcohol consumption are prohibited along the entire RE 5 route. As part of the alcohol consumption ban, open alcoholic beverages are not permitted on board our trains. However, you may still carry sealed bottles and cans with you. Any violations of the smoking ban will be finde with 40 EUR and consuming alcohol on board will result in a charge of 60 EUR.

The “Talk me home” Phone Service is a private initiative that allows you to call a number while on your way home and have a conversation to feel safe and less alone.
The phone number is 030 120 74 182 (Sun-Thu 8pm-12am; Fri-Sat 10pm-4am).

ARRIVESAFE APP
Would you like your loved ones to know you’re on your way home? Then we recommend the “ArriveSafe” app. It uses GPS to track your location in real time, so selected contacts can see where you are at any moment.
The app is available for iOS and Android. You can find more information and the download at www.KommGutHeim.eu.
