Construction work

Continuation of the line reduction to Hamburg-Harburg until June 2025.

Due to track work, the majority of RE 5 Cuxhaven-Hamburg trains are currently operating only as far as Hamburg-Harburg. This is because of extensive and necessary work on the railway bridges over the Elbe in Hamburg-Veddel.

According to the infrastructure operator, the construction work is now expected to be further delayed until June 2025. As a result, most RE 5 trains will continue to terminate temporarily at Hamburg-Harburg during this period.

The timetable during this period will remain consistent with the current schedule. This has not yet been updated in the timetable systems but will be adjusted shortly.

The following changes remain in effect:

  • RE 5 trains terminate and begin at Hamburg-Harburg.
  • As an alternative, the S-Bahn Hamburg (S5/S3) and Metronom trains can be used on the relevant section of the route.
  • Some RE 5 trains will continue to operate to and from Hamburg Main Station (Hbf).

The following RE 5 trains will also continue to operate to and from Hamburg Hbf:

  • 5:49 a.m. from Cuxhaven to Hamburg Hbf, Monday to Friday (14542)
  • 6:06 p.m. from Hamburg Hbf to Cuxhaven, Monday to Thursday (14529)
  • 4:04 p.m. from Hamburg Hbf to Cuxhaven, Friday (14525)
