START. LAND. MEER.

Three little words that represent a big promise to us: to take you regularly and comfortably from the Elphi to the Kugelbake.

As a young transport company and part of the regional rail passenger transport system (SPNV), we operate the regional express line RE5 between Cuxhaven and Hamburg since December 2018 and will continue doing so until December 2027. We are connecting 13 stations along the 115-kilometre route. The route leads from the North Sea city of Cuxhaven via Stade and Buxtehude all the way to the main station in Hamburg.

Start Unterelbe is part of the Regionalverkehre Start Deutschland GmbH, which is operating throughout Germany. With our office located inside the recently renovated railway station in Cuxhaven, we are regionally rooted and directly accessible. As of 2024, we employ 70 people – mainly from the region.

The LNVG monitors the punctuality, reliability and train composition of all rail services in the LNVG area and presents the data in the quality monitor.

Our trains

We operate a total of 38 double-deck coaches and 8 diesel locomotives from LNVG on the line. These are maintained by the manufacturer Bombardier at their Bremervörde facility.

The yellow, white and blue trains in the LNVG design have changed very little both inside and out. Have a look for yourself and discover our new green logo with our motto START.LAND.MEER.
